Natasha Bedingfield

In the early 2000s, Natasha Bedingfield’s liberating anthem, Unwritten, was everywhere. Not only was it inescapable on the radio and on TRL, but on the hit MTV reality series The Hills as its theme song. It quickly became a Grammy-nominated juggernaut that was cemented into the cultural zeitgeist. Amid its 20th anniversary, the timeless classic has experienced a revival. Not only did it go viral on TikTok, but on the heels of a prominent feature as Glen Powell’s “serenity song” in the hit rom-com Anyone But You, Unwritten returned to the charts, debuting on the Billboard Global 200 chart in January 2024 and peaking at No. 20 by March 2024. That same week, it also peaked at No. 12 on Billboard’s Global Excl. U.S. chart. “I’ve never seen a montage quite like it in a movie, it was really a love note from the director to the song. I’m sure the actors were so perplexed when they had to sing unwritten at the end of every scene. I don’t think people just discovered Unwritten. most movie goers probably knew it already, so when they went to the movie, they all came out singing and posted it, which introduced it to many more listeners.” Even now, it keeps going viral. Not only were millennials who grew up on the track reliving on the thrill of Unwritten, but younger generations were flocking to it, and her shows too. Beyond it’s moment on film, Unwritten has shown serious staying power through many spontaneous viral moments — including a championship UK football (soccer) team singing the song in the changing room (with Natasha surprising them in person) and becoming the song of a top women’s football team. The track has become a unifying cultural force, transcending cultural, racial, political, and generational boundaries. It resonates everywhere — from high school pep rallies and packed DJ sets to fraternity parties and spoken word performances. It’s been reimagined in powerful live renditions by kids trending on TikTok, used as a prep song by an Olympic boxing champion, and chosen as walkout music by UFC fighters. Beyond the spotlight, it’s echoed in everyday moments too — families and friends banging pots along to a popular remix, turning it into a shared celebration. Several of Natasha’s other songs continue to have viral traction, including “Pocketful of Sunshine,” “Love Like This,” “Soulmate,” and “These Words,” which are regularly picked up as trending sounds across platforms. This momentum led DJ Badger to release a new version of “These Words,” which also went viral. Bedingfield’s “These Words” remix with Badger reached No. 12 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart in May 2024 and No. 10 on Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart in July 2024. Most recently, Natasha’s on-stage collaboration with 67’s Skrilla generated over 30 million impressions and comments on TikTok. Over the past two years, Natasha has toured festivals around the world to meet the growing demand to experience her music live. Her catalog has surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, and she has maintained between 16 and 20 million monthly listeners throughout the year. The uplifting spirit of Bedingfield’s music has also been mirrored in her philanthropic work. She frequently gets behind causes that uplift women and children. Has spoken at the UN and Cop26 about protecting the Environment and even wrote a song with Sir Paul McCartney about environmental issues. She’s a big ally of the LGBTQ+ community, performing at Pride events around the world. “I feel uniquely understood when I sing within queer and diverse spaces. There’s a shared language here, this community hears the deeper meaning I tuck inside my songs.” While many of her songs carry a sunny energizing feel, they often come from a more vulnerable place; addressing experiences she has faced or is overcoming. Over the years, Natasha, who was homeschooled and describes herself as an outsider, has explored themes of pain, rejection, self doubt, and breaking through religious repression in her work. “I’d love to keep finding ways to shine the spotlight back on the places that really need it,” she says. With a career defined by timeless songwriting and cultural resonance, Natasha Bedingfield is entering a new creative era. Her upcoming project captures an artist who has not only shaped the soundtrack of multiple generations, but who still has plenty more to say — musically, emotionally, and thematically. Her live band is exceptional, and she is a world class performer in her vocal prime. Natasha’s shows are truly unforgettable experiences. The new music she’s creating is crafted with the live stage in mind — a reflection of her constant drive to grow in skill and creativity. She holds herself to a personal standard: to create a space where audiences feel moved, open, and deeply connected to one another through music. The outpouring of love from her fans has been critical for Natasha as an artist. “I feel so embraced when people tell me their inner child is being healed while I’m singing.” And Natasha plans to give that love back to her fans as she enters a new moment in her music career. ‚I want to embody being outside the lines and create outside the boundaries. I want to take the advice of my own songs, not just play it safe or release music that sounds the same.” Natasha, who studied psychology, continues to approach songwriting with the same curiosity that’s always guided her. “I love the mind. I love asking questions. And I love trying to solve a good problem through a song but often when you can’t solve it, simply expressing it brings relief.”
