THE SCORE

True artists know exactly who they are, what they want, and where they’re headed. That said, The Score—Eddie Anthony [vocals, guitar, song-writer] and Edan Dover [keyboard, producer] unapologetically cling to a defined identity. “We’re a kick ass band, and the energy at our shows reflects that,” Eddie declares. “If you come to a show, you’ll get a room full of people jumping up and down and screaming. It’s in your face.”

That energy transformed the New York-born and Los Angeles-based duo into a genre-defying phenomenon, incinerating the lines between rock, pop, indie, and electronic. Powered by anthems such as “Legend,” and “Unstoppable,” The Score reached hundreds of millions of cumulative streams within three years’ time over the course of two EPs— Unstoppable and Myths & Legends—and a 2017 full-length debut, ATLAS.

As they ignited venues across North America their music also began to become omnipresent in movies and television, with songs placed in Power Rangers, Sing Street, Pitch Perfect 3 in addition to campaigns for Jeep, NBA, the Daytona 500 and most recently the NFL playoffs including the Super Bowl.

“In the beginning we didn’t get in a van and tour the old school way,” explains Edan. “That’s just not how it started for us. Originally, it was just us in a small rundown studio releasing songs on the internet. All a sudden one of those songs started picking up steam in the UK and it was that break that got us signed. We then had the immense pressure to prove ourselves in the US. We were scared and worried that about it all working and what the future held for us. We had to find the strength to move our music forward, so that’s where all these motivational lyrics came from. We were pushing ourselves to keep going, because it felt like everything could fall apart at any moment.”

Now, The Score channel that spirit and sense of urgency into a new musical direction. Inspired by rap-adjacent artists Post Malone and K. Flay they began writing in Los Angeles and collaborating with a bevy of high-profile artists, writers and producers including, JT Daly [K. Flay], Heavy [Dirty Heads, Saint Motel, Sleeping with Sirens], and Dave Bassett [Elle King, Vance Joy]. “With this new music everything has progressively gotten harder and darker,” affirmes Eddie. “I think a lot of that comes from being a bit misunderstood and the struggles we’ve faced coming up.”

A testament to this becomes apparent on one their recent releases, “Stronger,” where heavy, skittering synths underscore the conviction in Eddie’s lyrics, “But you didn’t think that I’d come back to life…Stronger…Bet you thought that I was dead, but I’m not dead.” “You could literally parallel it to our story,” Edan continues. “We thought we were dead for a moment, but we came back to life when we looked inside and found the music we wanted to write that was true to us. If ATLAS was there to encourage our listeners to feel ‘Unstoppable’ and like a ‘Legend’, our new EP, Pressure speaks to how to improve yourself and face that inner conflict and the pressures that life throws at you. We’re out to tell the second chapter of our story.”

The Pressure EP features songs such as “Glory,” “Stronger,” “Under Pressure” and their new single “Dreamin’” featuring critically acclaimed alt-rapper, Blackbear. “I want people to listen to our new music and say, ‘damn, this is exactly what I’m going through’,” concludes Eddie. “Even if you’re in a completely different lane, I want you to realize we’re all going through the same journey. You’re not alone. You can overcome whatever pressures you’re facing. If we had a message, that would be it.”
